Get Ready to Move

Get Ready to Move

It was the 15th December, I’m at work, sitting at my desk and out of the blue ‘the Lord speaks straight into my heart 'Get ready to move!' It was so clear and direct, I knew instantly that my life was about to change.

I got home and told Sarah, we’re moving. I knew we were moving, I just didn’t know where. How do move, when you don’t know where you're going? Everyday I heard those words in my Spirit, I prayed 'where are we going Lord?'.

For about 6 months before this Sarah and I had felt unsettled at work, at church, at home… When it’s time for a bird to fly the nest, the mother bird will often remove the soft nesting, the feathers, all the things that make the nest comfortable so that the young bird leaves, moves on, starts the next chapter.

I noticed during the latter half of 2022 that things were getting more uncomfortable so when God spoke, I was ready. The only instruction I had was 'get ready to move'. So how do you get ready to move with no destination in mind? Well You start packing, you start selling the things you don’t want to take. You prepare yourself for change.

In March of 2023 I felt a picture was starting to form in my heart and so I booked a couple of days away to fast and pray, so I could get clarity on what I felt the Lord was saying. The Lord spoke to me from the book of Joshua, and I felt a sense of peace about the path ahead.

The word says in Psalm 119 verse 105 that His word is a lamp unto my feet a light into my path. His word will illuminate the way ahead, the path He wants you to tread.

By early April, I handed my notice in at work, sold most of what we wanted to sell and booked our tickets to go to America.

Several incredible things happened whilst we were in America, prophesies we were given, people we met, seeds that were planted, but the most amazing thing happened on August the 10th on Clemson Drive in Colorado Springs. I was sitting praying and the Lord showed me in a moment what my future was to be, the future He had planned, the ministry he called Sarah and I to fulfil.

That morning will forever stand out in my mind, because it was life changing. It’s difficult to describe how God can reveal His purpose for your life in a few short moments and how that makes you feel.

So what's the point I’m making here? If after feeling so unsettled I had dismissed it concluded everyone feels like this and just carried on, if after hearing that still small voice saying ‘get ready to move’ and ignored it, if we hadn’t taken the steps to make a change and pursued His will above all else, I don’t believe I would have had that powerful encounter with the Lord that day on the 10th August which has forever changed the course of our lives. 6 months on, I still don’t have all the answers, but the Lord is revealing things step by step.

You might think ‘I never hear you speak God', or 'I haven’t received any instruction about where I’m going?. God is speaking. God is wanting to lead you, but you have to make time to hear His voice, to be in the Word, to pursue His will. God doesn’t just force things to happen in your life. It’s wrong to think ‘well if God wants me to go there or do this, He’ll make it happen'. That’s not a biblical view point.

When God called Abraham out of the land of His Fathers, Abraham had to get up, pack his things, say goodbye and start walking. When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses had to leave the desert take his staff and walk into Pharaoh’s courtyard and make some demands, When Joshua had to lead the Israelites across the Jordan river, he had to pack up the camp, encourage the people to move and do something risky, knowing he was leading his people into a battle they didn’t ask for. When Jesus said to Peter follow me and I’ll make you a fishers of men, Peter had to leave his nets, his boats, his business and follow after Jesus.

God doesn’t force you to fulfil His will, He speaks to your heart, He instructs you but you have to make these things happen, you have to place one foot in front of the other and get going.

Jesus said this in Matthew 16.24 “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me."

So let me ask you a question…

Are you willing to lay aside what you want, are you intent on drowning out all the distractions to hear His voice above all else…and will you follow His instruction when you hear it?

God is speaking… are you listening?
